Original course enrolment information
For participation in the FTA courses only these main requirements apply:
- enrol and pay the tuition fee for the course (that way we can make sure you get good tutors, support and other facilities)
- be highly motivated to learn about the topics! (these courses are for people who are really willing to learn)
It is also recommended, though not formally required to:
- have the basic previous knowledge as mentioned for each course (that way you won't waste time attending a course that is of too high level).
That said, if your goal is to obtain a full Masters degree, then some academic prerequisites apply. The rules may vary per country and university, but generally a basic requirement is to have a bachelors degree. For more information see the page on recognition.
With the Free Technology Academy we offer certificates to those learners who have passed a course successfully. The Quality Assurance team of the FTA has made sure that these certificates are recognised by the different universities that participate in the FTA. This means that you can follow one or more courses at the FTA and then continue at one of the partner universities to obtain a complete Masters degree.
The Universitat Oberta de Catalunya already offers a complete Masters degree and the Open University of the Netherlands is working on that. In any case, FTA partner universities recognise the certificates issued by the FTA so that a learner can obtain the necessary waivers. We hope to provide the full Masters Programme through the FTA directly in the near future. See the taskforce International Master Programme.
